King James Version

Mark • Chapter 11

1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples. 2 And he says to them, "Go to the village that is opposite you, and immediately upon entering it you will find a colt tied, on which no one of men has sat; unloose it and bring it." 3 And if anyone says to you, "What are you doing this for?" say that "The Lord has need of it," and immediately he will send it back here. 4 And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside on the street, and they untied it. 5 And some of those standing there said to them, "What are you doing untying the colt?" 6 And they said to them as Jesus had said; and they left them alone. 7 And they bring the colt to Jesus, and they throw their garments on it, and he sat on it. 8 And many spread their garments on the road, while others cut branches from the fields. 9 And those going before and those following were crying out: Hosanna; Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; 10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David; Hosanna in the highest. 11 And he entered Jerusalem to the temple; and having looked around at everything, it being late already, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. 12 And the next day, as they were leaving Bethany, he was hungry. 13 And seeing a fig tree from afar having leaves, he went to see if perhaps he would find anything on it, and when he came to it, he found nothing except leaves, for the time was not the season for figs. 14 And having answered, he said to her, "No longer at any time will anyone eat fruit from you." And his disciples were hearing it. 15 And they come to Jerusalem. And entering the temple, he began to cast out those who were selling and those who were buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 16 And he did not allow anyone to carry a vessel through the temple. 17 And he was teaching and saying to them: "Is it not written that My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of robbers." 18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard, and they sought how to destroy him; for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. 19 And when it was late, they went out of the city. 20 And as they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter remembered and said to him, "Rabbi, look, the fig tree that I cursed has withered." 22 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God." 23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. 24 For this reason I say to you, all things whatever you pray for and ask, believe that you have received them, and it will be to you. 25 And when you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. 27 And they come again to Jerusalem. And while he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders come to him. 28 And they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?" 29 But Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one thing, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things." 30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer me. 31 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "What shall we say? If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?'" 32 But let us say this: From men? — They feared the crowd, for all held that John truly was a prophet. 33 And responding to Jesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things."
