King James Version

Mark • Chapter 16

1 And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early on the first of the Sabbath, they come to the tomb as the sun had risen. 3 And they said to themselves, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?" 4 And when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, for it was very large. 5 And when they entered the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed. 6 But he says to them, "Do not be amazed; you seek Jesus the Nazarene, the one who was crucified; he has risen, he is not here; see the place where they laid him." 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you into Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you. 8 And having come out, they fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. But all that was commanded to those around Peter they quickly reported. After these things, Jesus himself sent forth the holy and incorruptible proclamation of eternal salvation from the east to the west through them. Amen. 9 But having risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10 That one, having gone, reported to those who had been with him, mourning and weeping. 11 And they, having heard that he lives and was seen by her, believed not. 12 After these things, two of them were walking along and were made known in another form as they were going to the country. 13 And those having gone away reported to the others; nor did they believe them. 14 Later, while they were at the table, he appeared to the eleven and reproached them for their unbelief and hard-heartedness because they did not believe those who had seen him risen. 15 And he said to them, "Going into all the world, proclaim the gospel to every creature." 16 The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved, but the one who has not believed will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name, they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues. 18 They will take up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. 19 The Lord Jesus, after speaking to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, with the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.
