King James Version
Joshua • Chapter 11
1
And it came to pass when the king of Hazor heard, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon and to the king of Shimron and to the king of Achshaph.
2
And to the kings who are from the north on the mountain and in the Arabah, south of Cinneroth, and in the lowland and in the slopes of Dor from the sea.
3
The Canaanite from the east and from the west, and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Jebusite in the mountain, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
4
And they went out, and all their camps with them, a great people like the sand that is on the seashore for abundance, and horses and chariots very much.
5
And all these kings were gathered together, and they came and camped together at the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.
6
And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give all of them as slain before Israel; their horses you shall hamstring, and their chariots you shall burn with fire."
7
And Joshua and all the people of the war with him came against them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and they fell upon them.
8
And the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and they pursued them as far as Sidon, a great city, and as far as Misrefoth-Maim, and as far as the plain of Mizpah to the east, and they struck them so that they left no survivors for them.
9
And Joshua did to them as the Lord had said to him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.
10
And Joshua captured Hazor at that time and struck its king with the sword, for Hazor was formerly the head of all those kingdoms.
11
And they struck all the souls that were in it with the sword; they did not leave a single soul, and they burned Hazor with fire.
12
And Joshua captured all the cities of these kings and all their kings, and he struck them with the sword, killing them as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded.
13
Only all the cities that stood on their hill did not burn; Israel except for Hazor alone, which Joshua burned.
14
And all the spoil of these cities and the livestock the children of Israel plundered for themselves; only the people they struck with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them; they did not leave any breath alive.
15
As the LORD commanded Moses His servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he did not turn aside from anything that the LORD commanded Moses.
16
And Joshua took all this land: the hill country and all the Negev and all the land of Goshen and the lowland and the Arabah and the hill country of Israel and its lowland.
17
From the mountain which rises from Seir and until Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon under Mount Hermon, and all their kings were captured, and he struck them, and he killed them.
18
For many days Joshua waged war against all these kings.
19
There was no city that made peace with the children of Israel except for the Hivites who inhabited Gibeon; they took everything by war.
20
For it was from the LORD to strengthen their hearts to fight against Israel, in order to destroy them, so that they would have no mercy, for it was to destroy them as the LORD commanded Moses.
21
And Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah and from all the mountains of Israel, along with their cities, Joshua utterly destroyed them.
22
There were no giants left in the land of the children of Israel, only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod were they left.
23
And Joshua took all the land, as all that the Lord had spoken to Moses, and Joshua gave it as a possession to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes, and the land had rest from war.
