2 Chronicles • Chapter 12
1
And it happened when the kingdom of Rehoboam was strengthened, he abandoned the law of the Lord, and all Israel was with him.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem because they had transgressed against the Lord.
3
In one thousand and two hundred chariots and in sixty thousand horsemen, and there is no number to the people who came with him from Egypt, Libyans, Sukkiim, and Cushites.

And he captured the cities of the fortresses that belonged to Judah and he came to Jerusalem.

And Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the leaders of Judah who had gathered in Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, "Thus says the Lord: You have forsaken Me, and so I have also forsaken you into the hand of Shishak."

And the princes of Israel and the king bowed down and said, "The Lord is righteous."
7
And when the Lord saw that they were humbled, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, "They are humbled; I will not destroy them, and I will give them a little escape, and my anger will not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak."

For they will be to him for servants, and they will know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.

And Shishak, king of Egypt, went up against Jerusalem and took the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the house of the king; he took everything. And he took the shields of gold that Solomon had made.
10
And King Rehoboam made bronze shields and put them under the hand of the chief of the guard who kept the entrance of the king's house.

And it was when the king came to the house of the Lord, the runners came and lifted them and brought them back to the runners.
12
And when he was persuaded, the LORD also turned away from destroying completely, and there were good things in Judah.
13
And King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned, for he was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord chose to put His name there from all the tribes of Israel. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

And he did the evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the LORD.

And the words of Rehoboam, the first and the last, are they not written in the words of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer concerning the genealogies? And the wars of Rehoboam and Jeroboam, all the days.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David, and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
