King James Version

Exodus • Chapter 10

1 And the Lord said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, in order that I may show these signs among them." 2 And for the sake of telling in the ears of your son and your grandson about what I did in Egypt and about my signs that I placed among them, and you will know that I am the LORD. 3 And Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, God of the Hebrews, 'Until when will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.'" 4 For if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. 5 And it will cover the eye of the land, and it will not be able to see the land, and it will eat the rest of the gleanings that remain for you from the hail, and it will eat every tree that grows for you from the field. 6 And the houses of yours and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all Egypt, which neither your fathers nor the fathers of your fathers have seen from the day they were on the earth until this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh. 7 And the servants of Pharaoh said to me, "Until when will this be for us as a snare? Send the men so that they may serve the Lord their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?" 8 And he gathered Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and said to them, "Go, serve the Lord your God. Who are the ones going?" 9 And Moses said, "We will go with our young and with our elders; we will go with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds; for we must hold a feast to the Lord." 10 And he said to them, "So may the Lord be with you, as I have sent you and your children; see that it is evil before your faces." 11 Do not so; come now, you men, and serve the LORD, for it is Him you are seeking, and He will drive them away from the face of Pharaoh. 12 And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt concerning the locusts, and they will come up over the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land, all that the hail has left." 13 And Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the LORD caused an east wind to blow across the land all that day and all that night. The morning came, and the east wind brought the locusts. 14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and settled in all the territory of Egypt, very heavy; before them there had never been such locusts, nor will there ever be such after them. 15 And it covered the eye of all the land, and the land was darkened, and it ate all the grass of the land and all the fruit of the tree that the hail had left; and there remained no green in the tree or in the grass of the field in all the land of Egypt. 16 And Pharaoh hurried to call Moses and Aaron, and he said, "I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you." 17 And now, I pray, bear my sin only this time and pray to the Lord your God, and let Him remove from me only this death. 18 And he went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord. 19 And the Lord turned a strong wind over the sea very much, and it lifted the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea; not a single locust remained in all the territory of Egypt. 20 And the LORD strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not let the children of Israel go. 21 And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven, and there shall be darkness upon the land of Egypt, and it shall be darkness." 22 And Moses stretched out his hand over the heavens, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. 23 No man saw his brother, and no man rose from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. 24 And Pharaoh called to Moses and said, "Go, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back; also let your little ones go with you." 25 And Moses said, "You also will give in our hands sacrifices and burnt offerings, and we will make them to the LORD our God." 26 And also our livestock will go with us; not a hoof will be left behind, for we will take from it to serve the LORD our God. And we do not know with what we will serve the LORD until we arrive there. 27 And the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was unwilling to let them go. 28 And Pharaoh said to him, "Go away from me; take heed to yourself, do not see my face again, for on the day you see my face, you shall die." 29 And Moses said, "Thus you have spoken; I will not add to see your face again."
