King James Version
Exodus • Chapter 28
1
And you shall bring near to yourself Aaron, your brother, and his sons with him from among the children of Israel, to minister to Me as priests, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron.
2
And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
3
And you shall speak to all the wise-hearted whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, and they shall make the garments of Aaron for his Sanctification, to minister as a priest to me.
4
And these are the garments that they will make: a breastplate and an ephod, and a robe, and a woven tunic, a turban, and a sash; and they will make holy garments for Aaron your brother and for his sons to serve as priests to me.
5
And they will take the gold and the blue and the purple and the scarlet yarn and the fine linen.
6
And they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen, the work of a skilled craftsman.
7
There will be two shoulders joining to his two ends and will be joined.
8
And the woven band of it, which is on me, shall be like the work of it, from them shall be gold, blue, and purple, and crimson yarn, and fine twisted linen.
9
And you shall take two stones of onyx, and you shall engrave on them the names of the children of Israel.
10
Six names on the one stone and the names of the six remaining ones on the second stone according to their generations.
11
The work of a craftsman, a stone of openings for seals, you shall fashion the two stones on the names of the children of Israel, set in gold filigree.
12
And you shall place the two stones on the shoulder of the ephod, stones of remembrance for the children of Israel, and Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders for remembrance.
13
And you shall make golden crowns.
14
And you shall make two chains of pure gold, twisted work; you shall put the chains on the settings of gold.
15
And you shall make a breastplate of judgment, the work of a skilled craftsman, like the work of an ephod you shall make it; of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen shall you make it.
16
A square will be twice the length of its width and the width.
17
And you shall fill it with the filling of four rows of stones: one row of sardius, and one row of topaz, and one row of emerald.
18
And the second row is a turquoise stone, sapphir, and diamond.
19
And the third tower is named Shovo and Ahclama.
20
And the fourth row shall be a tarshish, and a shoham, and a jasper; they shall be set in gold filigree.
21
And the stones shall be upon the names of the sons of Israel, twelve stones according to their names; the engravings of a seal, each according to his name, shall be for the twelve tribes.
22
And you shall make upon the breastplate a border of woven work of pure gold.
23
And you shall make on the breastplate two gold rings, and you shall put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
24
And you shall put the two gold chains on the two edges of the breastplate.
25
And you shall place the two ends of the two cords upon the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, and you shall attach it to the front of the ephod.
26
And you shall make two gold rings and put them on the two ends of the breastplate on its edge, which is towards the side of the ephod inward.
27
And you shall make two gold rings and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, near its front, on the side of the ephod’s belt.
28
And they shall attach the breastplate with its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it may be on the front of the ephod, and the breastplate shall not be loosened from the ephod.
29
And Aaron shall carry the names of the sons of Israel in the breastplate of judgment on his heart when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the LORD continually.
30
And you shall put into the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be upon the heart of Aaron when he goes in before the Lord; and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord always.
31
And you shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue.
32
And it shall be a mouth for its head; in its midst, a lip shall be for its mouth; all around it shall be the work of a weaver; like a border, it shall not be torn.
33
And you shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarn, all around its hem, and golden bells shall be between them all around.
34
A bell of gold and a pomegranate, a bell of gold and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all around.
35
And it shall be on Aaron to minister, and we shall hear his voice when he comes into the holy place before the Lord, and when he goes out, and he shall not die.
36
And you shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it with the engraving of a sign, holy to the Lord.
37
And you shall place it on a thread of blue, and it shall be on the front of the turban, facing the front of the turban.
38
And it shall be on the forehead of Aaron, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the holy things that the children of Israel consecrate for all their holy gifts, and it shall be on his forehead continually for acceptance before the LORD.
39
And you shall weave the linen tunic, and you shall make a linen turban, and you shall make a sash, the work of a designer.
40
And for the sons of Aaron, you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them, and you shall make caps for them, for glory and for beauty.
41
And you shall clothe Aaron your brother and his sons with him, and you shall anoint them and fill their hands and consecrate them, and they shall minister to Me as priests.
42
And make for them linen trousers to cover the flesh of their nakedness from the loins to the thighs they shall be.
43
And it shall be upon Aaron and upon his sons when they come into the tent of meeting or when they approach the altar to serve in the holy place, and they shall not bear sin and die; it is a statute forever for him and for his descendants after him.
