King James Version
Exodus • Chapter 9
1
And the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go, that they may serve me.'"
2
For if you refuse to send away, and you still hold on to them.
3
Behold, the hand of the Lord will be upon your livestock in the field, upon the horses, upon the donkeys, upon the camels, upon the cattle, and upon the sheep; a heavy plague will come.
4
And the Lord will distinguish between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, and not one of the children of Israel will die.
5
And the Lord set a time, saying, "Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land."
6
And the LORD did this thing the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died, but not one of the livestock of the children of Israel died.
7
And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the livestock of Israel died; and the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8
And the LORD said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take for yourselves a full handful of ashes from the kiln and sprinkle it toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.”
9
And it shall be a plague upon all the land of Egypt, and it shall be upon man and upon beast, with sores breaking out in all the land of Egypt.
10
And they took the pitch from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses threw it into the air, and there was festering boils that broke out on man and on beast.
11
And the sorcerers could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were upon the sorcerers and upon all Egypt.
12
And the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses.
13
And the Lord said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning and present yourself before Pharaoh, and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews: "Let my people go, so that they may serve me."'"
14
For at this time I will send all My plagues upon your heart and upon your servants and upon your people, so that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth.
15
For now I have sent my hand, and yet you and your people will be taken away from the land.
16
But for this reason I have raised you up, to show you my power and to proclaim my name in all the earth.
17
You are still hiding among my people, in order not to send them away.
18
Behold, I am pouring down very heavy hail tomorrow, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was established until now.
19
And now send the goat of your livestock and all that belongs to you in the field; every man and the animal that is found in the field shall not be gathered into the house, and the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20
The one who fears the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh drove his servants and his livestock into the houses.
21
And whoever does not pay attention to the word of the Lord and abandons his servants and his livestock in the field.
22
And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the heavens, and there will be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast, and on every herb of the field in the land of Egypt."
23
And Moses lifted his staff toward the heavens, and the LORD gave thunder and hail, and fire went down to the earth, and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24
And there was hail, and fire flashing in the midst of the hail, very heavy, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25
And the hail struck all the land of Egypt, everything that was in the field, from man to beast, and every herb of the field the hail struck, and every tree of the field it broke.
26
Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail.
27
And Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time; the Lord is righteous, and I and my people are the wicked ones."
28
Pray to the LORD, and if there be many voices of God and hail, I will send you away, and you will no longer stand.
29
And Moses said to me, "When I go out of the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord; the thunder will cease and the hail will no longer be, in order that you may know that the earth belongs to the Lord."
30
And you and your servants, I know that you will not yet fear the face of the Lord God.
31
And the flax and the barley were struck because the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud.
32
And the wheat and the barley were not struck down, for they are late.
33
And Moses went out from Pharaoh to the city and spread out his hands to the Lord, and the thunder ceased and the hail, and rain was not poured out on the earth.
34
And Pharaoh saw that the rain, hail, and thunder had ceased, and he added to sin and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35
And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses.
