King James Version
Exodus • Chapter 23
1
You shall not bear false witness; do not place your hand with the wicked to be a witness of violence.
2
You shall not follow a multitude for evil, and you shall not testify in a dispute to turn aside after a multitude to pervert justice.
3
And a poor person shall not be esteemed in his dispute.
4
If you encounter a stray ox or donkey of your brother, you shall surely return it to him.
5
When you see your enemy's donkey lying under its burden and you stop yourself from helping it, you must surely help with him.
6
You shall not distort the judgment of your poor in their dispute.
7
From a matter of falsehood you shall distance yourself, and a clean and righteous one do not kill, for I will not justify the wicked.
8
And you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and distorts the words of the righteous.
9
And you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the soul of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
10
And for six years you shall sow your land, and you shall gather its produce.
11
And the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, and the needy of your people shall eat, and what they leave the animals of the field shall eat; thus you shall do to your vineyard and to your olive grove.
12
For six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.
13
And in all that I have said to you, you shall take heed, and the names of other gods you shall not mention; they shall not be heard on your lips.
14
Three times a year you shall celebrate.
15
You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time of the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; and no one shall appear before me empty-handed.
16
And the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your produce, which you shall sow in the field, and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather your produce from the field.
17
Three times a year, every male among you shall appear before the Lord YHWH.
18
You shall not sacrifice the blood of my offering with leaven, and the fat of my feast shall not remain until morning.
19
The beginning of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
20
Here I am sending an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.
21
Take heed to yourselves and listen to His voice; do not rebel against Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions, for His name is in Him.
22
For if you truly listen to my voice and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
23
For if an angel goes before you and brings you to the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Canaanite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, and I will destroy them.
24
You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, and you shall not do according to their works; for you shall utterly overthrow them and break their pillars in pieces.
25
And you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water, and I will take away sickness from your midst.
26
There shall not be a miscarrying or barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
27
I will send my mother before you, and I will kill all the people who come against them, and I will give all your enemies to you at the back.
28
And I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.
29
I will not drive you out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply against you.
30
Little by little I will drive them out from before you until you are fruitful and inherit the land.
31
And I will set your border from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the river; for I will give into your hand the inhabitants of the land, and you shall drive them out from before you.
32
You shall not make a covenant with them or with their gods.
33
They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me, for you will serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.
