King James Version

Numbers • Chapter 10

1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying. 2 Make for yourself two silver trumpets of hammered work; you shall make them, and they shall be for you for the gathering of the congregation and for the breaking camp of the camps. 3 And they shall blow with it, and all the congregation shall gather to you at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 4 And if they will sound in one place, and the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, will gather to you. 5 And you shall sound a trumpet, and the camps that are encamped shall set out to the east. 6 And you shall sound a second blast, and the camps that are encamped shall set out toward the south; they shall sound a blast for their journeys. 7 And when you gather the assembly, you shall sound the trumpets, and you shall not make a loud sound. 8 And the sons of Aaron the priests shall blow the trumpets, and it shall be to you as a statute forever throughout your generations. 9 And when you go to battle in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, and you blow the trumpets, then you shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies. 10 And on the day of your gladness, and on your appointed times, and on the beginnings of your months, you shall sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be for you as a memorial before your God. I am the Lord your God. 11 And it was in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, that the cloud rose up from above the Tabernacle of the testimony. 12 And the children of Israel set out for their journeys from the wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud settled in the wilderness of Paran. 13 And they set out first at the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses. 14 And the standard of the camp of the children of Judah set out first by their armies, and over his army was Nashon the son of Amminadab. 15 And over the tribe of the sons of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar. 16 And on the army of the tribe of Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon. 17 And the tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who carry the tabernacle, journeyed. 18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben set out for its armies, and over its army was Elizur son of Shedeur. 19 And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Simeon was Shlumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 20 And concerning the host of the tribe of Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel. 21 And the Kohathites who bear the sanctuary shall set up the tabernacle until they come. 22 And the banner of the camp of the children of Ephraim shall set out according to their armies, and over his army shall be Elishama the son of Amihud. 23 And upon the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 24 And on the army of the tribe of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni. 25 And the banner of the camp of the children of Dan shall set out, gathering for all the camps for their armies, and over his army shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26 And over the host of the tribe of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran. 27 And over the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan. 28 These are the journeys of the children of Israel when they went out. 29 And Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, "We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel." 30 And he said to me, "I will not go unless to my land and to my birthplace I will go." 31 And he said, "Do not leave us, for you know how we have been gracious to us in the wilderness and you have been to us for eyes." 32 And it will be that when you go with us, the good that He will do to us, we will do to you. 33 And they traveled from the mountain of the Lord a three-day journey, and the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord went before them a three-day journey to seek for them a resting place. 34 And the cloud of the Lord was upon them by day when they traveled from the camp. 35 And it happened when the ark was set out, that Moses said, "Rise up, O Lord, and let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee from before You." 36 And in rest He will say, "Return, O Lord, the myriads of thousands of Israel."
