King James Version

Numbers • Chapter 5

1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying. 2 Command the children of Israel, and they shall send out of the camp every leper and every who has a discharge, and every who is unclean by a soul. 3 From male to female, you shall send them outside the camp; they shall not defile their camps in which I dwell among them. 4 And the children of Israel did so, and they sent them outside the camp, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses; so the children of Israel did. 5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying. 6 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, if an individual man or woman commits any of the sins of mankind by acting treacherously against the Lord, that person is guilty. 7 And they shall confess their sin that they have committed and bring back their guilt offering, in its entirety, and shall add one-fifth to it and give it to the one whom they have wronged. 8 And if there is no goel to return the guilt offering to me, the guilt offering shall be returned to the Lord, to the priest, aside from the ram of atonement with which he shall make atonement for him. 9 And every offering for all the holy things of the children of Israel that they bring to the priest shall be his. 10 And a man shall be holy to My sanctuaries; and for him shall be a man who gives to the priest shall be. 11 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying 12 Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, "If a man strays from his wife and commits a trespass against her." 13 If a man lies with her in a seed of copulation and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and she is concealed and she has become pregnant and there is no witness against her and she was not caught. 14 And if a spirit of jealousy passes over him and he becomes jealous of his wife, and she is defiled, or if a spirit of jealousy passes over him and he becomes jealous of his wife and she is not defiled. 15 And the man shall bring his wife to the priest and he shall bring her offering for her, a tenth of an ephah of barley flour; he shall not pour oil on it and shall not put frankincense on it, for it is a meal offering of jealousy, a memorial offering bringing iniquity to remembrance. 16 And the priest shall bring her and set her before the Lord. 17 And the priest shall take holy water in a clay vessel, and from the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle, the priest shall take and put it into the water. 18 And the priest shall set the woman before the Lord and shall uncover the woman's head and put in her hands the grain offering of remembrance, it is the grain offering of jealousy, and in the hand of the priest shall be the bitter waters that bring a curse. 19 And the priest shall cause her to swear and shall say to the woman, "If you have not lain with a man and if you have not gone astray in uncleanness with a man, you shall be free from these bitter waters." 20 And you, because you have committed adultery under your husband, and because you have become unclean, a man will give you his bed outside of your husband. 21 And the priest shall make the woman swear by the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman, "May the Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people; may the Lord cause your thigh to fall away and your abdomen to swell." 22 And the bitter waters came into your belly for the armies and for the miscarriage, and the woman shall say, "Amen, amen." 23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book and shall blot them out into the water of the bitter. 24 And she shall give her drink the bitter waters that cause a curse, and the bitter waters shall enter into her for bitterness. 25 And the priest shall take from the hand of the woman the grain offering of jealousy and shall wave the offering before the LORD and bring it to the altar. 26 And the priest shall take a handful of the offering, its memorial portion, and shall burn it on the altar; and afterward he shall cause the woman to drink the water. 27 And if she drinks the water and it becomes bitter in her, and she becomes a curse among her people. 28 And if the woman is not defiled and she is clean, then she shall be cleansed and shall conceive seed. 29 This is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray under her husband and is defiled. 30 Or if a man has a spirit of jealousy that comes over him and he becomes jealous of his wife and sets the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall do to her all this law. 31 And the man shall be acquitted of sin, but the woman, she shall bear her iniquity.
