1 And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying. 2 Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families and by their ancestral houses. 3 From thirty years and upward, even to fifty years, all who come to the service to do work in the tent of meeting. 4 This is the service of the sons of Korah in the Tent of Meeting, the Holy of Holies. 5 And Aaron and his sons shall come to the entrance of the camp, and they shall take down the curtain of the screen and cover the Ark of the Testimony with it. 6 And they will place upon me a covering of leather, and they will spread a complete garment of blue from above, and they will put on the curtains. 7 And on the table of the Presence they shall spread a blue garment, and they shall put on it the dishes and the cups and the ladles and the bowls for the drink offering, and the continual bread shall be on it. 8 And they shall spread over them a garment of twisted scarlet, and cover it with a covering of dolphin skin, and they shall put the poles in. 9 And they shall take a blue garment and cover the lampstand of the light and its lamps and its vessels and its tongs and all the utensils of the oil that they serve with it. 10 And they shall give it and all its utensils into a covering of badger skin and they shall put it on the pole. 11 And they shall spread a blue cloth over the gold altar, and cover it with a covering of badger skin, and they shall put its poles in place. 12 And they shall take all the utensils of the service that they served in the sanctuary and put them into blue garments and cover them with a covering of dolphin skin and they shall place them on the carrying frame. 13 And we shall dedicate the altar, and they shall spread upon it a purple garment. 14 And they shall place upon me all the utensils that they have used in my service, the firepans, the shovels, and the basins, all the utensils of the altar, and they shall spread over me a covering of dolphin skin and shall put in the poles. 15 And Aaron and his sons shall finish covering the holy things and all the holy vessels when the camp is to travel; and afterward, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry but they shall not touch the holy things lest they die. These are the burdens of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting. 16 And the duty of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest is the oil for the light and the incense of the sweet spices and the grain offering of the continual offering and the anointing oil, the duty of all the tabernacle and all that is in it, in the sanctuary and in its furnishings. 17 And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 18 Do not destroy the tribe of the family of the Kohathites from among the Levites. 19 And this you shall do for them, and they shall live and not die when they approach the holy of holies; Aaron and his sons shall come, and they shall put on each man his service and his burden. 20 And they shall not come to see when the Holy is swallowed, and they will die. 21 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying. 22 "Take a census of the sons of Gershon, also they are to be counted by their ancestral houses and by their clans." 23 From the age of thirty years and upward until the age of fifty years, you shall number them, all who enter to serve in the army, to do the work of service in the tent of meeting. 24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites for labor and for carrying. 25 And they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of meeting with its covering and the covering of the fine leather which is on top of it, and the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting. 26 And the cords of the courtyard, and the screen for the entrance of the courtyard, which is over the tabernacle, and over the altar all around, and the utensils of their service, and all that is made for them, and they shall serve. 27 According to Aaron and his sons, all the service of the sons of the Gershonites shall be for all their tasks and for all their service, and you shall assign to them the care of all their tasks. 28 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites in the Tent of Meeting, and their charge shall be at the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 29 The sons of Merari, according to their families, shall be counted by the house of their fathers. 30 From the age of thirty years and upward, even to the age of fifty years, you shall number them, all who come to the army to do the work of the Tent of Meeting. 31 And this is the duty of the boards for all their work in the tent of meeting, the boards of the tabernacle and its bars and its pillars and its bases. 32 And the pillars of the courtyard around and their bases and their pegs and their cords for all their vessels and for all their services, and by names you shall appoint the vessels of their service. 33 This is the service of the families of the Merarites for all their service in the Tent of Meeting, under the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest. 34 And Moses and Aaron and the leaders of the congregation took the sons of the Kohathites by their families and by their ancestral houses. 35 From thirty years and upward, even to fifty years old, all who come to the service in the tent of meeting. 36 And their count was two thousand seven hundred and fifty by their families. 37 These are the records of the families of the Kohathites, all who work in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word of the Lord through the hand of Moses. 38 And the count of the children of Gershon by their families and by the house of their fathers. 39 From the age of thirty years and upward, even to the age of fifty years, all who come to the service in the tent of meeting. 40 And their numbered men, according to their families, of the house of their fathers, were two thousand, six hundred, and thirty. 41 These are the counts of the families of the sons of Gershon, all who do the work in the tent of meeting, which Moses and Aaron counted by the command of the Lord. 42 And the appointed ones of the families of the sons of Merari according to their families to the house of their fathers. 43 From thirty years and upward, even to fifty years, all who come to the service in the tent of meeting. 44 And their appointed ones were to their families three thousand and two hundred. 45 These are the enrollments of the clans of the sons of Merari, which Moses and Aaron counted by the command of Yahweh through the hand of Moses. 46 All the appointed ones that Moses and Aaron and the leaders of Israel counted concerning the Levites by their families and by their ancestral houses. 47 From the age of thirty years and upward until the age of fifty years, all who come to do the work of the service and the work of the burden in the tent of meeting. 48 And their count was eight thousand five hundred and eighty. 49 According to the word of the LORD, He appointed each man by the hand of Moses for his work and for his burden, and his assignments which the LORD commanded Moses.
