King James Version

Proverbs • Chapter 11

1 False scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a full weight is His delight. 2 Pride comes, and shame follows, but with the humble is wisdom. 3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the crooked will be destroyed by their own duplicity. 4 Wealth will not help on the day of wrath, but righteousness will deliver from death. 5 The righteousness of the upright shall direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. 6 The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the treacherous will be caught. 7 When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and the expectation of the unjust perishes. 8 The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked comes in his place. 9 With the mouth of a wicked one, a neighbor is ruined, but through the knowledge of the righteous, they will be delivered. 10 In the goodness of the righteous, a city is exalted, but in the destruction of the wicked, there is joy. 11 In the blessing of the upright, a city is raised, and by the mouth of the wicked, it is overthrown. 12 He who despises his neighbor lacks heart, but a man of understanding remains silent. 13 A gossiping person reveals secrets, but a faithful spirit covers a matter. 14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors, there is safety. 15 Evil will befall because a stranger has mingled, and the hater of alarms will be secure. 16 A woman of Grace will support honor, and the mighty will support wealth. 17 A man who shows kindness rewards his soul, but he who is cruel harms his own flesh. 18 The wicked does a deed of falsehood, but the one who sows righteousness will reap a reward of truth. 19 Thus righteousness leads to life, but pursuit of evil leads to death. 20 The LORD's abomination are the crooked of heart, but His delight is in the upright of way. 21 The hand of the wicked will not be unpunished, but the seed of the righteous will be delivered. 22 A gold ring in the snout of a pig, a beautiful woman who lacks discretion. 23 The desire of the righteous is only good, but the hope of the wicked is a span. 24 There is one who scatters and yet increases, and there is one who withholds more than is right, but leads to poverty. 25 A blessed soul shall be satisfied, and a quencher also shall inherit. 26 A barrier shall be established for a nation and a blessing for the leader of the destroyer. 27 A good seeker desires favor, but one who seeks evil will come upon it. 28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a leaf. 29 One who robs his house will inherit wind, and a servant is a fool to the wise of heart. 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who takes souls is wise. 31 Indeed, the righteous will be rewarded on earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner.
