King James Version
Proverbs • Chapter 24
1
Do not be envious of evil people, and do not desire to be with them.
2
For the wicked speak heartily, and the labor of their lips will declare.
3
By wisdom a house will be built, and by understanding it will be established.
4
And in the knowledge of chambers, all precious wealth and delights will be filled.
5
A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge strengthens power.
6
For with plans you will wage war for yourself, and victory is in the abundance of counselors.
7
The fool's wisdom is like a height; at the gate, he will not open his mouth.
8
The one who devises evil against him, the master of plots, they shall call.
9
The invitation of folly is sin, and the scornful are an abomination to mankind.
10
You were healed in the day of trouble; you are weak.
11
The shadow takes for death, and the kill for murder, if you hold back.
12
For if you say, "Indeed, we have not known this," does not He who weighs the hearts understand? And He who guards your soul, does He not know? And He will repay to man according to his deeds.
13
Eat, my son, honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your mouth.
14
Thus, know wisdom for your soul; if you have found it, then there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
15
Do not lie in wait for the wicked to destroy the dwelling of the righteous.
16
For seven times the righteous falls and rises, but the wicked stumble in evil.
17
When your enemy falls, do not rejoice, and when he stumbles, let not your heart be glad.
18
Lest the Lord see and it be evil in His eyes, and He turn away from me His anger.
19
Do not be angry with evildoers; do not envy the wicked.
20
For the wicked, there will be no future; the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.
21
Fear the Lord, my son, and the king; with strangers do not meddle.
22
For suddenly a disaster will arise, and who knows two?
23
Also these for the wise, the recognition of faces in judgment is not good.
24
You say to the wicked, "You are righteous"; nations will scorn him, peoples will be angry with him.
25
And to the rebukers, it shall be a quieting, and upon them the blessing of goodness will come.
26
Lips shall kiss who gives right words.
27
Prepare your work outside and make it ready for yourself in the field; afterward, build your house.
28
Do not be a false witness against your neighbor, and do not entice with your lips.
29
Do not say, "As I have done to you, so I will do to him; I will repay the man according to his work."
30
I passed by the field of a sluggard, and by the vineyard of a man lacking sense.
31
And behold, all his creeping things covered my face, and my walls of stones were broken down.
32
And I will hold fast; I will set my heart; I have seen; I have taken instruction.
33
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down.
34
"And your guide shall come and your lack shall be like a shield."
