Proverbs • Chapter 19
1
Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than a rich person whose ways are perverse, and he is a fool.
2
Also, without knowledge a soul is not good, and one who is hasty with his feet sins.
3
The folly of man distorts his way, and his heart frets against the Lord.
4
Wealth multiplies friends, but the poor is separated from his neighbor.
5
A witness of lies will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out falsehoods will not escape.
6
Many will seek the favor of a noble, and every friend for the sake of a man who gives gifts.
7
All brothers of the poor hate him; even his friends distance themselves from him; those who pursue him are far from him.
8
The one who gains a heart loves his soul, and the one who keeps understanding finds good.
9
A witness of lies will not be unpunished, and he who breathes out falsehoods will perish.
10
It is not fitting for a fool to delight, even as a servant rules over princes.

The understanding of a man is long-suffering, and his glory is to overlook an offense.

The lion roars, the king of rage, and the dew falls on the grass of his desire.
13
The father of a fool is a son, and a daughter causes misery to her mother.
14
A house and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, and from the Lord, a wise woman.

Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the soul of the idle will suffer hunger.
16
The one who keeps the commandment preserves his life; the one who despises his ways will die.
17
The Lord is gracious to the needy and will repay him.
18
Do not be discouraged, for there is hope; and do not give up your soul to death.
19
A great lot of wrath carries punishment if you rescue and add more.
20
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days.

Many are the plans in the heart of a man, but the counsel of the Lord, that will stand.

The desire of a man is kindness, and better is a poor person than a deceitful man.

The fear of the Lord is for life, and the one who is satisfied will rest; evil will not be visited upon him.

The slothful hides his hand in the dish; he will not bring it back to his mouth.
25
A scoffer strikes, and a simple one is led astray; but one who reproves the wise will understand knowledge.

The destroyer of a father will deliver a mother to a shameful son and/or will set him in distress.
27
I have ceased, my son, to hear correction, to stray from words of knowledge.
28
A worthless witness will challenge judgment, and the mouth of the wicked will swallow iniquity.
29
We are ready for mockers to judge, and for debates to the foolish.
