King James Version
Proverbs • Chapter 18
1
To desire, a separate one will seek; with all wisdom, it will be revealed.
2
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only in expressing his own heart.
3
When a wicked man comes, there is also contempt and with shame, disgrace.
4
Deep waters are the words of a man's mouth; a flowing brook is a fountain of wisdom.
5
It is not good to show favoritism to a wicked person, to turn aside a righteous person in judgment.
6
The lips of a fool will come to blows, and his mouth calls for strife.
7
The mouth of a fool is a ruin to him, and his lips are a snare for his soul.
8
The words of a murmurer are like those who complain, and they go down into the chambers of the belly.
9
Also, anyone who is lax in his work is a brother to the master of destruction.
10
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
11
The wealth of the rich is a strong city, and like a high wall in his own imagination.
12
Before a breakdown, the heart of a man is lifted up, and before honor comes humility.
13
Responding to a matter before hearing it is foolishness and shame.
14
The spirit of a man will sustain him in his sickness, but who can bear a crushed spirit?
15
A heart of understanding will acquire knowledge, and the ear of the wise will seek knowledge.
16
A man's gift will make room for him and bring him before great men.
17
The righteous one will come and his friend will investigate.
18
The lot will stop the Midianites, and between the mighty, it will separate.
19
A brother has dwelled in the city of strength and in strife and in arguments like a breach of a fortress.
20
From the fruit of a man's mouth, his belly will be satisfied; he will be filled with the harvest of his lips.
21
Death and life are in the hand of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
22
He who finds a wife finds good and obtains favor from the Lord.
23
The poor speaks with supplications, but the rich answers with harshness.
24
A man of friends will be shattered, but there is a lover who sticks closer than a brother.
