King James Version
Proverbs • Chapter 30
1
The words of Agur son of Jakeh, the utterance of the man to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal.
2
For I am a brute, and not a man; I do not have understanding of a human.
3
And I have not learned wisdom, and I will know knowledge of the holy ones.
4
Who has ascended to heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name and what is the name of His son, if you know?
5
Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
6
Do not add to my words, lest he prove you wrong and you be found a liar.
7
Two things I asked of you; do not deny me before I die.
8
Remove falsehood and lying far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion.
9
Lest I become full and deny, and say, "Who is the LORD?" and lest I be in want and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
10
Do not slander a servant to his master, lest he curse you and you be found guilty.
11
A generation of my father will be cursed, and its mother will not be blessed.
12
A pure generation is in my eyes, and they have not been cleansed from their filth.
13
How long will my eyes be lifted up, and my eyelids be raised?
14
A generation of sharp swords and of meat that hangs, to eat the poor from the earth and the needy from man.
15
To the two daughters of the tower, three of them will not satisfy; four they did not say wealth.
16
Death and the barren womb, the land is never satisfied with water, and fire never says, "Enough."
17
The eye will mock at the father and will despise the mother; the ravens of the valley will eat her, and the sons of the eagle will eat her.
18
Three of them were wonderful to me, and four I did not know.
19
The way of the eagle in the heavens, the way of the snake upon the rock, the way of a ship in the heart of the sea, and the way of a man with a maiden.
20
Thus is the way of a woman committing adultery: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, "I have done no wickedness."
21
Under three things the earth trembles, and under four it cannot bear up.
22
Instead of a servant because he will reign, and a fool because he will be satisfied with bread.
23
Because of hatred, you will be taken as a wife, and a maidservant will inherit her mistress.
24
There are four small creatures of the earth, and they are exceedingly wise.
25
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer.
26
The hyraxes are a people not mighty, yet they make their homes in the rocks.
27
A king has no rival, and he goes out with all of them.
28
She is caught in hands, and she is in the palaces of the king.
29
Three are they who improve the path, and four who are good for walking.
30
The lion, a mighty one among beasts, and he will not turn back from any.
31
The swift one strengthens his loins or a lion, and the king is with him.
32
If you have acted foolishly in your pride, and if you have plotted against your mouth.
33
For the milk of the breast brings forth butter, and the squeeze of anger brings forth blood, and the squeeze of wrath brings forth strife.
