King James Version

Proverbs • Chapter 3

1 In my law, do not forget, and my commandments will guard your heart. 2 For length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. 3 Kindness and truth shall not forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 And find favor and good understanding in the eyes of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 Healing shall be to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first of all your produce. 10 And your granaries will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 Do not despise the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary of His reproof. 12 For whom the Lord loves, He reproves; as a father does the son in whom he delights. 13 Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the man who draws forth understanding. 14 For her trade is better than the trade of silver, and her revenue than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than pearls, and all your desires cannot compare to her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. 17 The ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace. 18 It is a tree of life to those who hold onto it, and those who support it are blessed. 19 The LORD, by wisdom, founded the earth; He established the heavens by understanding. 20 In his knowledge, the depths were broken open, and the clouds poured down rain. 21 My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; guard wisdom and discernment. 22 And they shall be life for your soul and Grace for your throat. 23 Then you will walk securely on your way, and your feet will not stumble. 24 If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror and of the destruction of the wicked when it comes. 26 For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. 27 Do not withhold good from its owners when it is in your power to do it. 28 Do not say to your friend, "Go and return tomorrow, and I will give you," when you have it with you. 29 Do not plot evil against your neighbor, while he dwells securely with you. 30 Do not argue with a man for no reason if he has not done you harm. 31 Do not be envious of a man of violence, and do not choose any of his ways. 32 For it is an abomination to the Lord to do wickedness, and He confides in the upright. 33 The lamp of the Lord is in the house of the wicked, but He blesses the dwelling of the righteous. 34 If he will mock the mockers, he will give Grace to the humble and to the needy. 35 The honor of the wise will inherit, but fools raise shame.
