Proverbs • Chapter 21
1
The waters of a stream are the heart of a king in the hand of the LORD; he directs it to all that he wishes.
2
The way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.
3
To do righteousness and judgment is chosen by the Lord more than sacrifice.
4
The rise of the eyes and the breadth of the heart is a sign of the wicked who sin.
5
The thoughts of a diligent person are only for excess, and every hasty person is only for lack.

A worker of treasures in a tongue of falsehood is a vapor driven away by seekers of death.
7
The violence of the wicked will terrify them because they have refused to do justice.
8
You have turned the way of a man and a stranger, and the pure is straight in his dealings.

It is better to dwell in the corner of a roof than with a contentious woman in a house.
10
The soul of the wicked desires evil; it will not be favored in my eyes.
11
A mocker will be punished; a wise man will receive knowledge through instruction.

The discerning righteous understands the house of the wicked; he overthrows the wicked to their ruin.

He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor, he also will cry out and not be answered.

A gift in secret will cover anger, and a bribe in the lap is strong wrath.

Joy is to the righteous to do justice, and fear is to the doers of wickedness.

A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead.

A man lacking loves joy; he loves wine and oil, but he will not be rich.

A ransom for the righteous is the wicked, and a treachery for the upright is the deceitful.

It is better to dwell in a desert land than with a contentious and angry woman.

A treasured store and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man will swallow it up.

The one who pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.

A city of mighty men, the wise rises up and strength descends from the refuge.

He who guards his mouth and his tongue guards his soul from troubles.

A proud man is a scoffer; he acts with arrogant contempt.
25
The desire of the lazy will kill him, for his hands refuse to work.
26
Every day he longs for desire, and the righteous gives and does not withhold.
27
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; even more so when brought with evil intent.
28
A witness of lies will perish, but the one who hears will speak forever.
29
The wicked man will stand before me, and the righteous man will prepare his way; he will understand his paths.
30
There is no wisdom, and there is no understanding, and there is no counsel against the LORD.
31
A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance belongs to the Lord.
