King James Version

Proverbs • Chapter 31

1 The words of Lemuel, king of Massa, which his mother taught him. 2 What is my son, and what is the son of my womb, and what is the son of my vows? 3 Do not give your strength to women, and your ways to those who destroy kings. 4 Do not give wine to kings, O Moab; do not give strong drink to rulers. 5 Lest he drink and forget what is decreed, and change the judgment of all the afflicted. 6 Give strong drink to the perishing and wine to those in bitterness of soul. 7 He will drink and forget his misery, and he will no longer remember his labor. 8 Open your mouth for the mute, for the cause of all the children passing by. 9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the poor and needy. 10 A woman of valor who can find? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will lack no gain. 12 She has repaid him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She sought wool and flax and worked with delight in her hands. 14 The ships of merchants will bring bread from afar. 15 And she arose while it was still night and gave prey to her household and a task to her maidens. 16 She planned a field and took it from the fruit of her hands; she planted a vineyard. 17 She girded her loins with strength and made firm her arms. 18 She tasted that it was good; His merchandise will not be extinguished in the night. 19 My hands sent forth in the connection, and my palms supported the unfolding. 20 Her palm is stretched out to the poor, and her hands she has sent to the needy. 21 She does not fear for her house because of snow, for all her household is clothed in crimson. 22 She made coverings of fine linen and purple for herself. 23 It is known in the gates, her husband, when he sits with the elders of the land. 24 She made a linen cloth and sold it, and she gave a belt to the Canaanite. 25 Strength and majesty are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. 26 She opened her mouth with wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue. 27 The sluggard does not eat bread. 28 The sons arose and praised her and celebrated her. 29 Many daughters have done well, but you surpass them all. 30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give to her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
