King James Version

Proverbs • Chapter 2

1 If you take my words and hide my commandments with you. 2 To incline your ear to wisdom and to apply your heart to understanding. 3 For if you call for understanding, and raise your voice for insight. 4 If you seek silver and search for hidden treasures. 5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and the knowledge of God you will find. 6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He will surely hide for the upright wisdom, a shield for those who walk in integrity. 8 To preserve the paths of justice and to keep the way of my saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice and uprightness, every good path. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul. 11 A plan will keep watch over you; understanding will guard you. 12 To rescue you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things. 13 Those who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness. 14 They rejoice to do evil; they delight in overturning what is right. 15 Which paths of theirs are crooked and devious in their circuits. 16 To deliver you from a strange woman, from a foreign woman, whose words are smooth. 17 The proud has forgotten the covenant of her God. 18 For she has sunk to death, and her paths lead to the dead. 19 All who enter it shall not return, and they shall not attain the paths of life. 20 So that you may walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright will dwell in the land, and the blameless will remain in it. 22 And the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the treacherous will be uprooted from it.
