King James Version

Ezekiel • Chapter 14

1 And men from the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me. 2 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 3 Son of man, these men have raised their idols upon their hearts and the stumbling block of their iniquity they have put before their faces; I will be sought by them. 4 Therefore, speak to them and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Every man of the house of Israel who raises his idols to his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet, I Yahweh will answer him myself in the matter of his many idols. 5 In order to grasp the house of Israel in their hearts, which they were warned against by their idols altogether. 6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Return and turn yourselves away from your idols and from all your abominations turn your faces. 7 For any man from the house of Israel and from the foreigner who dwells in Israel, if he separates himself from following Me and puts his idols in his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet to seek for himself from Me, I, the Lord, will answer him by Myself. 8 And I will set My face against that man, and I will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from among My people, and you shall know that I am the LORD. 9 And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I have stretched out my hand against him and have destroyed him from among my people Israel. 10 And they shall bear their iniquity, like the iniquity of the one who seeks, like the iniquity of the prophet it shall be. 11 So that the house of Israel will no longer stray from Me, and will no longer defile themselves with all their transgressions; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, says the Lord God. 12 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying. 13 When a human being sins against Me by committing a violation, and I stretch out My hand against it, and break its staff of bread, and send famine upon it, and cut off from it both man and beast. 14 And these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in her; they will deliver their souls in their righteousness, says the Lord Yahweh. 15 If only a bad animal would pass through the land and you would be forsaken, and it would be desolate without any passerby before the animal. 16 As I live, declares the Lord GOD, if these three men—Daniel, Noah, and Job—were in it, they would only deliver their own lives; the land would be desolate. 17 Or a sword I will bring upon the land, and I will say, "A sword shall pass through the land," and I will cut off from it man and beast. 18 And these three men in its midst, as I live, declares the Lord God, they will not save sons and daughters; they alone will be saved. 19 Or a plague that I will send to the land, and I will pour out my wrath upon it in blood to destroy from it man and beast. 20 And Noah, Daniel, and Job, these three, they will be delivered; they will deliver their souls by their righteousness, says the Lord God. 21 For thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send four terrible judgments upon Jerusalem—sword and famine and evil beasts and pestilence—to cut off man and beast from it. 22 And behold, a remnant remains of those removed, sons and daughters; behold, they are going out to you, and you will see their way and their actions, and you will be comforted concerning the evil that I brought upon Jerusalem, all that I brought upon it. 23 And you will be comforted when you see their ways and their deeds, and you will know that I have not done all that I have done for nothing, says the Lord God.
