Ezekiel • Chapter 44

1 And he sat by the way of the gate of the outer sanctuary that faces east, and it was shut. 2 And the Lord said to me, "This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has come in by it, and it shall be shut." 3 The prince, the prince, he shall sit to eat bread before the Lord, from the way of the hall the gate shall come in and from his way he shall go out. 4 And He brought me to the way of the north gate before the house, and I saw, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord, and I fell on my face. 5 And Yahweh said to me, "Son of man, set your heart and see with your eyes and hear with your ears all that I speak to you concerning all the statutes of the house of Yahweh and concerning all the teachings of my teachings, and you shall set your heart to all the exits of the house in all the exits of the sanctuary." 6 And you shall say to my people, to the house of Israel, thus says Lord Yahweh: "Many are your abominations, O house of Israel." 7 When you bring in the children of foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary and to pollute my house by bringing in your bread, the fat, and the blood, and they have broken my covenant to all your abominations. 8 And you did not keep my holy charge, and you set them to keep my charge in my sanctuaries for you. 9 Thus says the Lord God: No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, shall come into My sanctuary, of any foreigner who is among the children of Israel. 10 For if the Levites who strayed from upon me in the errors of Israel, who strayed from upon me after their idols, and they will bear their iniquity. 11 And there will be in My sanctuary servants appointed to the gates of the house, and the servants of the house they will slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they will stand before them to serve them. 12 Because they served them in front of their idols and they became a stumbling block of sin for the house of Israel, therefore I lifted my hand against them, says the Lord God, and they will bear their iniquity. 13 And they shall not approach Me to serve as priests, nor shall they come near any of My holy things, to the holy of holies, and they shall bear their shame and their abominations that they have done. 14 And I will place them as guardians of the watch of the house for all their service and for all that will be done in it. 15 And the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok who kept the charge of My sanctuary, when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister to Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood, says the Lord God. 16 They shall come to My sanctuary, and they shall approach My table to minister to Me, and they shall keep My charge. 17 And it shall be, when they come to the gates of the inner courtyard, they shall wear linen garments, and they shall not wear wool when they serve in the gates of the inner courtyard and in the house. 18 The flaxen ornaments shall be on their heads, and the flaxen garments shall be on their loins; they shall not gird themselves with violence. 19 When you go out to the outer courtyard, to the outer courtyard to the people, you shall strip off your garments that you ministered with and place them in the rooms of the sanctuary, and you shall put on other garments, and you shall not consecrate the people in your garments. 20 And they shall not shave their heads, nor shall they let their hair grow long; they shall keep their hair uncut. 21 And no priest shall drink wine when they enter the inner courtyard. 22 And they shall not take a widow or a divorced woman for wives, but only virgins of the seed of the house of Israel; and a widow who will become a widow from a priest, they shall take. 23 And my people shall teach between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean, they shall know. 24 And they shall stand for judgment regarding their dispute, and they shall judge him with my judgments, and he shall judge them, and they shall keep my laws and my statutes at all my appointed times, and they shall sanctify my Sabbaths. 25 And to a dead person, a man shall not come to a corpse, except for his father and mother, and for a son and daughter, for a brother and sister who have not been married to a man, they shall be defiled. 26 And after his purification, he shall count seven days for himself. 27 And on the day he comes into the holy place, into the inner courtyard to serve in the holy place, he shall bring his sin offering. Thus says the Lord God. 28 And it shall be to them for a possession; I am their possession, and you shall not give them a holding in Israel; I am their holding. 29 The grain offering and the sin offering and the guilt offering, they shall eat; and every devoted thing in Israel shall be theirs. 30 And the first of all your firstfruits and all your upliftings from all your upliftings shall be for the priests; and the first of your dough you shall give to the priest to cause a blessing to rest upon your house. 31 All carrion and what is torn from the bird and from the beast the priests shall not eat.
