1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying. 2 And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the city of blood? And you shall make known to her all her abominations. 3 And you shall say, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: A city that sheds blood within it to come to its time, and has made idols upon it to defile it. 4 In your blood which you have shed, you have sinned, and in your idols which you have made, you have defiled; and you have sacrificed your days, and you have come to your years; therefore I have given you shame among the nations and disgrace to all the lands. 5 The near and the far from you will be defiled by you, the name of the great tumult. 6 Behold, the leaders of Israel, each one with his own strength, were with you in order to shed blood. 7 Father and mother have defrauded you; they have wronged the foreigner, orphan, and widow in your midst. 8 You have profaned my sacred place and my Sabbaths you have desecrated. 9 Men of gossip were in you for the sake of shedding blood, and on the mountains they ate within you, they committed lewdness in your midst. 10 The nakedness of your father you shall not uncover; it is the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. 11 And a man has done a detestable thing with his neighbor's wife, and a man has defiled his daughter-in-law with lewdness, and a man has afflicted his sister, his father's daughter. 12 You took bribes in order to shed blood, and you took interest and increase; you oppressed your neighbor and forgot my words, says the Lord God. 13 And behold, I have struck my hand against your stronghold, which you have made, and upon your blood that was in your midst. 14 Will your heart stand firm, or will your hands be strong in the days that I am doing with you? I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it. 15 And I will scatter you among the nations and I will cleanse you from your impurities. 16 And you shall inherit before the eyes of the nations, and you shall know that I am the Lord. 17 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying. 18 Son of man, there were in the house of Israel various kinds of metal, all of bronze and iron and tin and lead, in the midst of a furnace of smelting, silver was. 19 Therefore thus says my Lord Yahweh: Because you all are like the dross, behold, I gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20 A collection of silver and bronze and iron and tin into the midst of the furnace for the melting fire to cause them to be brought together; thus I will gather in my anger and in my wrath, and I will leave and I will purge you. 21 And I will gather you, and I will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and you will be melted in its midst. 22 When you are struck with silver in the midst of the furnace, thus you will be melted in its midst, and you will know that I am the LORD; I have poured out my fury upon you. 23 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying. 24 Son of man, say to her: You are a land that is not cleansed; you are not rained upon in the day of wrath. 25 The conspiracy of her prophets is like a roaring lion; they have torn the soul and eaten it; they have taken the precious and the valuable; her widows have multiplied in her. 26 The priests have violated my law and profaned my holy things; they did not distinguish between the holy and the common, nor did they make known the unclean from the clean, and they hid their eyes from my Sabbaths, and I was profaned among them. 27 The princes in her midst are like ravenous wolves tearing their prey, shedding blood to destroy lives, in order to gain unjust profit. 28 And the prophets prophesied falsehood to them, and the diviners deceived them, saying, "Thus says my Lord YHWH," and YHWH did not speak. 29 The people of the land have oppressed, and they have robbed; they have wronged the poor and needy, and they have oppressed the stranger without justice. 30 And I sought for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I might not destroy it, but I found no one. 31 And I will pour out my fury upon them; with the fire of my wrath I consumed them; I set their way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.
