King James Version
Ezekiel • Chapter 36
1
And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.
2
Thus says my Lord, Yahweh: Because the enemy has said against you, "Aha! The eternal heights have become our possession."
3
Therefore, prophesy and say, Thus says my Lord Yahweh: Because of your desolation and the desolation of your surroundings, you shall be a possession for the remnant of the nations, and you shall rise upon the lip of the tongue and the talk of the people.
4
Therefore, hear, O mountains of Israel, the word of the Lord God. Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and to the hills, to the valleys and to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that have been forsaken, which became a prey and a derision to the residue of the nations that are all around.
5
Therefore, thus says my Lord, the Lord: If I did not speak in the fire of my jealousy against the remnant of the nations and against all Edom, who have given my land to them as a heritage with joy of heart and despite of soul in order to make it a possession.
6
Therefore, prophesy against the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys: Thus says Sovereign Lord Yahweh: Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because you have borne the reproach of the nations.
7
Therefore, thus says my Lord Yahweh: I have raised my hand; if not, the nations that are around you will bear your shame.
8
And you, mountains of Israel, you shall give your branches, and your fruit you shall bear to my people Israel, for they have drawn near to come.
9
For behold, I am towards you, and I turned towards you, and you shall serve, and you shall be sown.
10
And I will increase man upon you, all the house of Israel, entirely; and the cities will be inhabited, and the ruins will be rebuilt.
11
And I will greatly increase upon you man and beast, and they will multiply and flourish, and I will settle you as in your former days, and I will make you better than at your beginnings, and you will know that I am the Lord.
12
And I will walk upon you, man, with my people Israel, and they will inherit you, and you will be to them as a heritage, and you shall no longer be bereaved.
13
Thus says the Lord: Because you say, "A human being is eating with me and you have made your nation stumble," you have become.
14
Therefore, man shall no longer eat, and your nations shall not stumble; you shall no longer lose, says the Lord God.
15
And I will no longer make you hear the reproach of the nations, and you will no longer bear the shame of peoples, and you will no longer cause your nations to stumble, declares my Lord Yahweh.
16
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying.
17
Son of Adam, the house of Israel sits on its land and they have defiled it by their ways and by their deeds; their impurity was like the impurity of a menstruating woman; their ways were before me.
18
And I will pour out my fury upon them for the blood that they have shed upon the earth and for their idols they have defiled.
19
And I will scatter them among the nations, and they will be dispersed in the lands, according to their ways and according to their deeds I judged them.
20
And he came to the nations that had come there and they profaned my holy name by saying to them, "These are the people of the Lord, and they have gone out from his land."
21
And I will have compassion for my holy name, which they have profaned among the nations where they went.
22
Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Not for your sake am I acting, house of Israel, but for the sake of My holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.
23
And I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, that you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when I am sanctified in you before their eyes.
24
And I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the lands and bring you to your own land.
25
And I will sprinkle pure water upon you, and you shall be cleansed from all your impurities and from all your idols I will cleanse you.
26
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
27
And I will put My Spirit within you, and I will cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
28
And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your ancestors, and you will be to me a people, and I will be to you a God.
29
And I will save you from all your uncleanness, and I will call to the grain and increase it, and I will not give upon you famine.
30
And I will increase the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field so that you will no longer bear the disgrace of famine among the nations.
31
And you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that are not good, and you will be ashamed in your presence for your iniquities and your abominations.
32
I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Lord God; let it be known to you, be ashamed and be confounded by your ways, O house of Israel.
33
Thus says the Lord God: On the day I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will restore the cities and the desolate places will be rebuilt.
34
And the land of the breath will be destroyed because it was desolate in the eyes of all passersby.
35
And they will say, "This land was like the garden of Eden, and the cities have become desolate, and the souls and the destroyed have settled in fortresses."
36
And the nations around you shall know that I am the Lord; I have built the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.
37
Thus says the Lord God: Again this I will inquire of the house of Israel to do for them as many as the flock of mankind.
38
Like the flock of holy ones, like the flock of Jerusalem in its appointed times, so shall the cities that are desolate be full of the flock of man, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
