Ezekiel • Chapter 42

1 And he brought me out to the outer courtyard, the way to the north, and he brought me to the chamber that was opposite the threshold and that was opposite the building to the north. 2 To the front of the length of the hundred cubits of the north entrance, and the width is fifty cubits. 3 In front of the twenty that are for the inner courtyard and in front of the pavement that is for the outer courtyard, I will bring to the presence of the ancient in the thirties. 4 And in front of the chambers, the way is ten cubits wide to the inner way, one cubit, and their openings to the north. 5 And to the elevated places, they are short, for the ancients can access them from below and from the middle of the structure. 6 For they are triangular and there are no pillars like the pillars of the courtyards; therefore, they are removed from the lower parts and from the middle parts from the earth. 7 And the wall that is outside, opposite the chambers, along the way of the outer courtyard, is fifty cubits long. 8 For the length of the porches that are for the outer courtyard is fifty cubits, and behold, in front of the temple is one hundred cubits. 9 And under the chambers, and under these chambers, the entrance that brings from the east in its coming to them from the outer courtyard. 10 In the width of the fence of the courtyard, the way to the east toward the threshold and toward the building for dwelling. 11 And the way to their face is like the appearance of the rooms that the way of the north is, like their length, so is their breadth; and all their exits and their judgments and their openings. 12 And at the entrances of the chambers which are toward the south, the opening is at the head of the way, the way before the hedge is the way of the east as they enter. 13 And he said to me, “To dwell in the north, to dwell in the south, which is toward the face of the cutting, these are to dwell in the holy place that the priests who are near to the Lord will eat there, the holy things of the holy of holies; there they shall place the holy things of the holy of holies, and the grain offering and the sin offering and the guilt offering, for the place is holy.” 14 When the priests enter, they shall not go out from the holy place to the outer courtyard, and there they shall put down their garments in which they served, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments and approach the area of the people. 15 And finish the measurements of the inner house, and bring me out through the gate that faces east, and measure around about. 16 The measuring spirit of the east measured the distance of five hundred cubits in the measuring rod around. 17 He measured the wind from the north, five hundred reeds in the measuring rod all around. 18 The spirit of the south measured five hundred cubits by the measuring rod. 19 He measured five hundred cubits all around the wind of the sea with the measuring rod. 20 For four cubits in measurement, a wall around it, five hundred in length and five hundred in width, to separate between the sacred and the profane.
