King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 10

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide in times of trouble? 2 In the pride of the wicked, the poor will be kindled; they will be caught in his schemes, these have been considered important. 3 Because a wicked man praises his desire, and a violent man blasphemes the Lord. 4 The wicked, like his height, will not seek; there is no God in all my plans. 5 My ways shall be established all the time; your judgments are high above me; all my oppressors shall be ashamed in them. 6 He said in his heart, "I will not be moved forever, for the generation that is not wicked." 7 "My mouth is full of deceit and trouble under my tongue; it is labor and iniquity." 8 He will sit in the west of the courtyards; in the hiding places he will kill the innocent; my eyes will see, and he will conceal us for a moment. 9 He lies in wait in the hiding place like a lion in a thicket; he lies in wait to catch the poor, he catches the poor in his net. 10 And he will crush, and he will fall in great strength, and the weak will be like the strong. 11 He said in his heart, "God has hidden His face; He will never see." 12 Arise, O Lord, lift up your hand; do not forget the poor and the humble. 13 On what does the wicked man reproach God? He has said in his heart, "You will not inquire." 14 You have seen that you toil and look with anger; you will give in your hand against me. Your strength will leave you; you were a helper to the orphan. 15 Break the arm of the wicked, and their evil you shall not find. 16 The Lord is King forever and ever; the nations have perished from His land. 17 The desire of the humble you have heard, O Lord; you will prepare their heart; you will incline your ear. 18 To judge the orphan and the oppressed, he will no longer add to afflict man from the earth.
