King James Version
Psalms • Chapter 69
1
For the conductor; upon lilies; of David.
2
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my soul.
3
I have sunk in deep waters, and there is no place to stand; I have come into the depths of the sea, and the current has swept me away.
4
I have grown weary from my calling; my throat has become hoarse; my eyes are failing; I wait for my God.
5
Many are those who hate me without cause; strong are those who oppress me falsely; I have not robbed, yet I must restore.
6
God, you have known my foolishness, and my sins are not hidden from you.
7
Let those who wait for you, O Lord of Hosts, not be ashamed; let those who seek you, O God of Israel, not be put to shame.
8
For upon you I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face.
9
I was a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to the sons of my mother.
10
For the zeal of your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen upon me.
11
And I bewailed in the fast of my soul, and it became for my reproach.
12
And I will give them garments of sackcloth, and I will be to them for a sign.
13
The those who sit at the gate speak, and the drinkers of strong drink sing.
14
And I, my prayer is to You, O LORD, at a time of favor; O God, in Your great kindness, answer me with the truth of Your salvation.
15
Save me from the mud, and do not let me sink; I am rescued from my hatred and from the depths of the waters.
16
Do not flood me with water, and do not swallow me in a pit, and do not cover me with a well of abyss.
17
Answer me, O Lord, for your goodness is great; according to the abundance of your mercies, turn to me.
18
And do not hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress; answer me quickly.
19
Draw near to my soul, redeem it for the sake of my enemies, rescue me.
20
You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor; my adversaries are all before you.
21
The reproach has broken my heart, and I am sick; I hoped for comfort, but found none.
22
And they gave me vinegar to drink in my thirst.
23
Let there be a table before them for a trap and a snare for their peace.
24
Their eyes will become blind to see, and their loins will always tremble.
25
Pour out your wrath upon them, and let your fierce anger overtake them.
26
Let their spirit be a snare in their tents; let there be no inhabitant.
27
For you are the one who struck; they pursued and will tell of your wounded pains.
28
"Forgive iniquity for the iniquity of them, and do not let them come into Your righteousness."
29
Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and with the righteous let them not be written.
30
But I am poor and in pain; O God, may Your salvation set me on high.
31
I will praise the name of God in song and exalt Him with thanksgiving.
32
And it is good to Yahweh more than a young bull that has horns and hoofs.
33
The humble have seen and will rejoice, those who seek God, and may your hearts live.
34
For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise His prisoners.
35
Let the heavens and the earth praise Him, the seas and all that moves in them.
36
For God will save Zion and will build the cities of Judah, and they shall dwell there and possess it.
