King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 31

1 For the conductor, a psalm of David. 2 In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Your righteousness. 3 Bend your ear to me quickly; be for me a rock of refuge, a stronghold to save me. 4 For you are my rock and my fortress; for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me. 5 You will bring me out of the net that they laid for me, for you are my strength. 6 Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth. 7 I have hated those who regard empty vanities; but I have trusted in the Lord. 8 I will rejoice and be glad in your kindness, for you have seen my affliction; you know my soul's troubles. 9 You did not deliver me into the hand of the enemy; you set me in a wide place. 10 Lord, grant me Grace, for I am in distress; my eyes, my soul, and my belly are troubled with wrath. 11 For all my days are consumed in grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed. 12 I have been a reproach to all my adversaries, and to my neighbors very much, and fear to my acquaintances; those who saw me outside fled from me. 13 I have been forgotten like a dead man; I have become like a lost vessel. 14 For I have heard the report of many, there is terror all around; they conspired together against me to take my life. 15 And I have trusted in you, Lord; I said, "You are my God." 16 In your hand, I place my times; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me. 17 Shine Your face upon Your servant; save me by Your mercy. 18 Lord, let me not be ashamed, for I have called to you; let the wicked be ashamed; let them be silent in the grave. 19 The lips of falsehood will silence those who speak against the righteous with pride and disdain. 20 How great is your goodness that you have stored up for those who fear you, which you have accomplished for those who take refuge in you before the sons of man. 21 You will hide in the secret of your face from the noise of men; you will shield them in a booth from the strife of tongues. 22 Blessed is the Lord, for He has shown His wonderful kindness to me in a city under siege. 23 And I said in my haste, "I am driven away from Your presence"; surely You have heard the voice of my supplication when I cried out to You. 24 Love the Lord, all you His saints; the Lord preserves the faithful, but pays back in full the one who acts arrogantly.
