King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 56

1 For the conductor, upon the silent dove, far away, a Psalm of David, a golden plaque, when he seized him in Gath from the Philistines. 2 "Grant me, O God, for man presses upon me all day long." 3 They have pursued me all day long because many are fighting against me. 4 On the day I fear, I trust in You. 5 I will praise God; I have trusted in God; I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? 6 Every day they distress me with all their thoughts for evil. 7 They will hide us, they will protect us; they will keep us safe; as they hoped for my soul. 8 Upon the iniquity of the sin, in anger, God brings down nations. 9 You have counted my wanderings; put my tears in your bottle; are they not in your book? 10 Then my enemies will turn back on the day I call; this I know, that God is for me. 11 I will praise God; I will praise the word of the Lord. 12 In God I have trusted; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? 13 I will pay my vows to you, O God; I will offer thanks to you.
