King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 33

1 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord; it is fitting for the upright to praise. 2 Give thanks to the Lord with the harp; sing to Him with the lyre. 3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud shout. 4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is faithful. 5 Loving righteousness and justice, the earth is full of the kindness of the Lord. 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their hosts. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea; he puts them in storehouses of the deep. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world tremble before Him. 9 For He said and it came to be; He commanded and it stood firm. 10 The LORD nullified the counsel of the nations; He thwarted the plans of the peoples. 11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen for His inheritance. 13 From heaven, the Lord looked; He saw all the sons of man. 14 From the place where he dwells, he watches over all the inhabitants of the earth. 15 The creator together forms their hearts; he understands all their works. 16 There is no king saved by a multitude of warriors; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength. 17 A false hope for salvation is the horse; in its great strength, it will not deliver. 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His mercy. 19 To save from death their soul and to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. 21 For in him our heart will rejoice, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22 Let your kindness, O Lord, be upon us, as we hope in you.
