King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 139

1 For the conductor, a psalm of David: O Lord, You have searched me and You know. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thoughts from afar. 3 My way and my actions you have made known, and all my paths you have approved. 4 For there is no word in my tongue; O Lord, you know it all. 5 You have afflicted me from behind and before, and laid your hand upon me. 6 A wonder is knowledge from me; I am exalted, I cannot attain it. 7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit, and where shall I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, there you are; and if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there. 9 I will bear the wings of dawn; I will dwell at the end of the sea. 10 There also your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. 11 And I said, "Surely darkness will cover me, and night will be light around me." 12 Even darkness will not be dark from you, and night will shine like day; darkness is like light. 13 For You have possessed my kidneys; You have covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will declare upon you for your wonders; I have been amazed at your marvelous deeds, and my soul knows very well. 15 I have not hidden my strength from you, which I have done in secret; I have been raised in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance, and in your book all of them were written; the days were fashioned when as yet there was none of them. 17 And what is precious to me, your friends, how powerful they have become. 18 I will recount from the sand; they will increase, I have awakened and I am still with you. 19 If you kill a wicked god, and men of blood turn away from me. 20 What they will say to you for a scheme, do not take for nothing your cities. 21 Does not the Lord hate your adversaries, and will He not fight against your opponents? 22 I have hated the end of hatred; my enemies have been. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. 24 And see if the way of pain is before me, and guide me in the path of eternity.
