King James Version
Psalms • Chapter 35
1
To David, the Lord will contend with my adversaries; I will fight with my bread.
2
Take hold of shield and buckler and rise to help me.
3
And the spear is empty, and close to meet the pursuer, say to my soul, “Your salvation I am.”
4
Let them be ashamed and let them be dismayed, those who seek my life; let them turn back and be embarrassed, those who devise evil against me.
5
They will be like chaff before the wind, and the angel of the Lord will drive them away.
6
Let their path be darkness and slippery places, and let the angel of the LORD pursue them.
7
For they have dug a pit for me in vain; they have hollowed it out for my soul.
8
Destruction will come, which no one will know, and its ruin, which is hidden, will catch you in destruction; it will fall upon it.
9
And my soul will rejoice in the Lord; it will be glad in His salvation.
10
All my bones shall say, "Yahweh, who is like you, saving the poor from the strong against him, and the needy and the destitute from his oppressor."
11
"Let witnesses of violence arise, of whom I did not know; they will question me."
12
They shall repay me evil for good, making me desolate for my soul.
13
And I, when they were sick, wore sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer would return to my own bosom.
14
As a brother, I walked with my companion, like a mother I mourned; I was darkened.
15
And in my side they rejoiced and gathered, gathered against me, and I did not know; they tore apart and did not bleed.
16
In the deceit of mockers, a bitter tooth is set against me.
17
Lord, what will you show? Restore my soul from their destroyers, from the young lions.
18
I will praise you in the great assembly; among a mighty people, I will glorify you.
19
Let my enemies, who rejoice at my downfall without cause, not gloat over me.
20
For they do not speak peace, and against the quiet of the earth, they plan deceitful words.
21
And they widened their mouths against me; they said, "The brother, the brother, you have seen our eyes."
22
You have seen, O Lord; do not be silent; O Lord, do not be far from me.
23
The city and the watchman for my judgment, O God, and my Lord for my contention.
24
Judge me according to your righteousness, O Lord my God, and let them not rejoice over me.
25
Do not say in their heart, "Our soul should not say to us."
26
They will be ashamed and will be ashamed together, those who rejoice in harm; they will be clothed with shame and disgrace, those who magnify against me.
27
They will rejoice and be glad, the desires of righteousness, and they will say continually, "The LORD will be magnified, the desire of His servant."
28
And my tongue will proclaim your righteousness all day your praise.
