King James Version
Psalms • Chapter 78
1
A wise one will hear; listen, my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2
I will open with a parable; I will declare riddles from days of old.
3
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4
We will not hide from their children, telling the coming generation the praises of the Lord and His strength and the wonders He has done.
5
And He raised up a testimony in Jacob and set a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to make known to their children.
6
So that a future generation may know, children who will be born will arise and tell their children.
7
And they will set their trust in God and will not forget the deeds of God, and they will keep His commandments.
8
And there will not be like their fathers a generation that is rebellious and rebellious; the generation did not prepare its heart, and did not trust in God’s spirit.
9
The sons of Ephraim, armed archers, turned back on the day of battle.
10
They did not keep the covenant of God and refused to walk in His law.
11
And they forgot my deeds and my wonders that I showed them.
12
He performed wonders before their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13
The sea was split, and they passed through; and the waters stood like a heap.
14
And they were led by a cloud by day and all the night by the light of fire.
15
He will cleave rocks in the wilderness and will cause the great depths to drink.
16
And He brought forth streams from the rock and made them flow like rivers of water.
17
And they added yet to sin against Him, to provoke the Most High in the waste places.
18
And they tested God in their heart by asking for food for their souls.
19
And they spoke to God, saying, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?"
20
Lo, he struck the rock and waters flowed, and streams will flood; will bread be given if he prepares flour for his people?
21
Therefore, the LORD heard and was angry, and fire was kindled against Jacob, and also wrath rose up against Israel.
22
For they did not trust in God and did not hope for His salvation.
23
And He commanded the heavens from above and opened the doors of heaven.
24
And He rained down upon them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven.
25
A man ate the bread of the mighty; he sent them a feast for satisfaction.
26
He drove east in the heavens and guided with His strength south.
27
And it rained on them like dust, and like the sand of the seas the bird of the wing.
28
And he will fall in the midst of the camp around my dwellings.
29
And they ate and were very satisfied, and their desires would bring them to it.
30
They did not scatter from their desire; they still eat in their mouth.
31
And even God ascended upon them and killed among their fat ones, and the young men of Israel were defeated.
32
In all this they sinned still and did not believe in my wonders.
33
And he finished with emptiness their days and their years in confusion.
34
If they kill and seek Him, then they will return and seek Him.
35
And they will remember that God is their Rock and the Most High, their Redeemer.
36
And they seduced him with their mouth, and with their tongue they deceived him.
37
And their heart was not right with Him, and they were not faithful to His covenant.
38
And he is compassionate; he forgives iniquity and does not destroy. He greatly relents from bringing calamity, and he does not stir up all his anger.
39
And he remembered that they are flesh; a spirit goes and does not return.
40
What will they rebel against him in the wilderness; they will grieve him in Jeshimon?
41
And they returned and sought the Holy One of Israel.
42
They did not remember His hand on the day He redeemed them from the adversary.
43
Which He set in Egypt as signs and wonders in the land of Zoan.
44
And He turned their rivers into blood, and their streams did not allow them to drink.
45
He will send among them a swarm of flies, and they will eat, and a frog, and it will destroy them.
46
And He gave to the locust the harvest, and they will reach the grass.
47
He will kill in the hail your vine and your fig trees in the garden.
48
And he closed off to the hail in the city, and their livestock to the burning.
49
He will send out His fierce anger, wrath and trouble, with the sending of evil angels.
50
He will prepare a path for his anger; he did not spare from death their soul, and he delivered them to the plague.
51
And he struck every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52
And he caused his people to journey like sheep, and he led them like a flock in the wilderness.
53
And they rested securely and were not afraid, and the sea covered their enemies.
54
And He brought them to the boundary of His holiness; this mountain is the place He acquired by His right hand.
55
And He drove out the nations before them and allotted them as a heritage with a rope, and He dwelled in their tents the tribes of Israel.
56
And they tested and provoked the Most High God, and My testimonies they did not keep.
57
And they turned back and dealt treacherously like their fathers; they became like a crooked bow.
58
And they provoked Him with their high places, and with their idols they angered Him.
59
God heard and was angered, and He rejected very much Israel.
60
And he abandoned the dwelling of Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mankind.
61
And he gave to the captive his strength and his glory into the hand of the oppressor.
62
And he closed for the sword His people, and in His inheritance He was enraged.
63
My young men ate fire, and my virgins were not praised.
64
My priests have fallen by the sword, and my widows do not weep.
65
And he awoke like a mighty man who shouts because of wine.
66
And he struck his enemy in the back, he gave disgrace to eternity.
67
And He rejected the tent of Joseph and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim.
68
And He chose the tribe of Judah, the mountain of Zion, which He loves.
69
And he built it like the heights of the sanctuary, like the earth he established forever.
70
And He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds.
71
After bringing him up to shepherd his people Jacob and Israel his inheritance.
72
And he will lead him in the integrity of his heart and guide him by the skillfulness of his hands.
