King James Version

Psalms • Chapter 27

1 To David: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evildoers come near to eat my flesh, my adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. 3 If an army encamps against me, my heart will not fear; if war arises against me, in this I trust. 4 One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I will seek: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple. 5 For he will hide me in a shelter in the day of evil; he will conceal me in the secret place of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. 6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in His tent sacrifices of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. 7 Hear, O Lord, my voice; I call, and be gracious to me and answer me. 8 To you, my heart has said, "Seek my face." Your face, O Lord, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me; do not turn away in anger; you have been my help; do not forsake me and do not abandon me, God of my salvation. 10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will gather me. 11 Show me, O Lord, your way, and guide me in a path of righteousness for the sake of my foes. 12 Do not give me over to the soul of my enemies, for false witnesses have risen against me, and violence speaks. 13 Had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.
